Microsoft Announces Major Fabric Updates at FabCon 2025

At this year’s FabCon, Microsoft unveiled a wave of new features and enhancements for the Fabric platform. While there were dozens of announcements, here are the ones we’re most excited about at Arreoblue: 

 Agentic AI Comes to Fabric

Microsoft is taking AI integration to the next level with Azure AI Foundry-powered agentic capabilities, including: 

• Self-operating AI agents that analyse data, generate insights, and take actions autonomously 

• Enterprise-wide knowledge grounding across all data sources (SQL, KQL, DAX, OneLake) 

• Conversational interface to “talk” to your data and get real-time answers 

• Pre-built domain specialists for HR, finance, ops and more 

• Closed-loop automation from data to decisions to actions 

 

Data Factory Gets Game-Changing Updates

The long-awaited parameterised connections are finally here, bringing Fabric’s Data Factory much closer to Azure Data Factory functionality. Plus, new AI-assisted pipeline development tools will help users build transformations faster. 

 

Enterprise DevOps is Coming

Fabric now officially supports: 

• Terraform integration (Generally Available) 

• Fabric CLI (Preview) 

• Folder REST API (Preview) 

These tools finally give teams proper CI/CD and automation capabilities for large-scale Fabric deployments. 

 

Performance at Scale

Two critical improvements: 

• Autoscale Spark billing (pay only for what you use) 

• High Concurrency Notebooks (GA) for parallel execution 

 

What’s Coming Next?

Microsoft teased: 

• Deeper AI integration across Fabric 

• Enhanced real-time analytics with mirroring 

• More low-code AI tools for business users 

 

Why These Matter

While FabCon 2025 had no shortage of announcements, these updates stand out as the most impactful for enterprises scaling Fabric adoption.
